Is my report anonymous?

Yes. The form never asks for your name, phone number, or email, and no identifying information is collected. There is no account and no sign-in — you just describe what happened.

What happens after I report?

Your report goes securely to RISE Alberni. Reports are combined to track patterns of racism and hate in Port Alberni and to push for change in our community. Because reports are anonymous, we can’t reply to you directly — if you need help, use Get Support.

What counts as a hate incident vs. a hate crime?

A hate incident is hateful behaviour that isn’t a crime — slurs, insults, being treated unfairly. A hate crime is a criminal offence motivated by hate, like assault, threats, or vandalism. You can report either one here. Can I report something I witnessed?

Yes. You don’t have to be the person it happened to. Witness reports matter — they help show the full picture of what’s happening in our community.

What if it happened to my child, or at school?

You can report it here — incidents affecting young people matter, and anyone can file the report. It also helps to tell the school directly: talk to the teacher or principal, or contact School District 70 (Pacific Rim).

Do you share reports with police?

No. Reports go only to RISE Alberni, and no identifying information is collected or shared. If you want police involved, you can contact them directly — Get Support lists who to call.
